Brisk Teaching is an AI-powered platform that teachers use to create and adapt instructional materials—generating lesson plans, quizzes, and feedback, and changing the reading level of almost any text—from inside the tools they already use, through a browser extension and web app. It also includes a student-facing AI tutor, Brisk Boost, that teachers set up on a topic and release for students to work through at their own pace.
Students independently work through a teacher-assigned Brisk Boost activity at their own pace. The activity is a back-and-forth chat with an AI the teacher has set up for a specific topic: students answer its questions, ask their own, and get written feedback as they go. Depending on how the teacher configured it, the chat might be a tutor that works through a concept, a writing or grammar coach, or a character (e.g., a historical figure or fictional character) that students can interview. Multilingual learners can work in their home language when the teacher has enabled that function for them.
On the teacher's side, the AI generates and adapts instructional materials from a prompt or an existing document or web page, building lesson plans, slide decks, quizzes, rubrics, and feedback; changing the reading level of a text; and translating materials into other languages. It can write feedback on student work, organized as what a student did well and what to work on next. In a Boost activity, the AI has a back-and-forth chat with each student on the topic the teacher set up: it asks questions, responds to what the student writes, gives written feedback, and works toward the learning goals the teacher defined, signaling when a student has met them. It adjusts its language to the level the teacher specified and can converse in other languages.
Teachers use Brisk through a browser extension that works on top of the tools they already use, like Google Docs, Microsoft (Word + PPT), web pages, and their learning management system. Working from an article or web page they've opened, a document or school system lesson plan they've pasted in, or a written prompt describing what they want, they generate instructional materials: lesson plans, slide decks, quizzes, study guides, and rubrics. They can produce several versions of the same task at different levels in one step, change the reading level of a text, and translate materials into other languages. They can also generate written feedback on student work they've collected, which they then return to students themselves. Teachers can also create a Brisk Boost activity for students. They set it up before releasing it, choosing the topic, the type of interaction (e.g., a tutor, a writing coach, or a character to interview), the language level, and the feedback style. While students work, teachers can watch the dialogues on a live dashboard, where they can see each student's chat, get notified when a student pastes in content, and message individual students to redirect or support them. Teachers can review and edit what Brisk produces before using it, checking the AI's output for accuracy and refining their prompts to improve it.
School and school system leaders make adoption decisions, set the scope of use, and evaluate alignment with the core curriculum. Leaders can use Brisk to support teachers' instruction directly: writing rubric-based feedback on classroom observations, helping teachers align an article or resource to state and national standards, and adapting texts to different reading levels or translating them for multilingual learners. Across the school system, they can see how teachers are using Brisk through an administrator dashboard—including a measure of how much use reflects instructional practices associated with stronger student learning—and control which Brisk tools are available to their teachers.

Because Brisk runs as a browser extension on top of the tools teachers already use, they work right inside the document, slideshow, or web page they're already in, rather than copying content out to a separate app and pasting the results back.

Brisk works at the level of the task in front of the student, not the skill underneath it (e.g., a student might be stuck on a proportions problem because they never fully learned fractions, which proportions depend on). When that happens, Brisk tends to give more practice on the current problem rather than going back to fill the earlier gap, so the teacher is still the one who has to spot the root of a student’s misconception.

Because Brisk responds to what a student actually submits, the quality of the feedback often depends on how engaged students are. A student can move through an activity with shallow answers it accepts, finishing without doing the thinking the activity was meant to prompt. The tool can also be prompted into giving up the answer directly, so a student who figures that out can get it to do the work for them.

How well Brisk works depends a lot on how well the teacher prompts it—and prompting effectively can take time to learn. The same tool can produce tightly aligned materials or generic ones depending on the instructions it's given, so the skill of the person using it shapes what students actually get.
"What it comes down to is the teacher being able to 1) just make sure to double check for accuracy of the AI’s feedback…and then 2) the way that the teacher prompts and what the teacher is asking, being clear on prompting and giving it the outcome that you want it to have for you and your students, is either going to enhance the tool's greatness or constrain it."

There is no independent, causal evidence of impact on student learning yet.
Brisk has an ESSA Tier 3 study of 542 educators across four Wisconsin school systems, combining survey responses with platform usage analytics. The findings are teacher outcomes rather than student outcomes: after the first year of use, the share of teachers reporting easier time management rose from 34% to 60%, and the share reporting improved work-life balance rose from 23% to 39%. ESSA Tier 3 reflects promising, correlational evidence.

Brisk officially launched Curriculum Intelligence, which provides curriculum-aligned AI to support instructional coherence. Outputs are grounded in a school system’s adopted standards, pacing, and materials rather than generated from a standalone prompt and mapped to the system’s scope and sequence. Curriculum Intelligence is live for the 2026–27 school year and rolling out to school systems now.
District Guidance is a related capability: leaders set instructions in the Administrator Portal that apply to everything teachers generate across the Brisk extension, Brisk Boost, and Brisk Next, so outputs reflect school system standards, pedagogy, and policies.
